Documents We Translate
Most of our work arrives on a deadline tied to a filing date. These are the document types we handle most often, and the prosecution context for each one.
Patent Specifications and Claims
Claim sets or full specifications for filing, with claim scope preserved. Claim terms are locked to a project glossary before drafting begins, so a term that appears forty times in the specification is rendered the same way all forty times.
Foreign Priority Documents
When a US application claims priority to a Japanese, Korean, or Chinese filing, the examiner can require an English translation of the priority document. We translate the certified copy in full, preserve the original claim numbering and figure references, and deliver a signed certificate of accuracy.
PCT National Phase Entry Translations
National phase entry at the USPTO requires the international application in English inside the 30-month window. We translate the specification, claims, abstract, and drawing text to the receiving patent office’s formatting requirements, and we flag claim language that will read differently to a US examiner– before you file, rather than after.
IDS Prior Art References
Information disclosure statements often include Japanese, Korean, or Chinese references (cited documents, patentability reports, international search reports, etc.) that need either a concise English translation or a full one, depending on materiality. We produce either, and we will tell you which a given reference actually warrants instead of billing a full translation of a document where a translated abstract and the relevant passages would satisfy the duty.
Office Actions and Responses
We translate JPO, KIPO, and CNIPA office actions along with the cited art, then translate your response back into the target language. Because the same linguist pair stays with your matter, terminology holds from the first action through allowance.
Litigation, IPR, and Discovery Documents
For inter partes review, ITC investigations, and district court matters, we translate prior art, file wrappers, technical documents, and produced correspondence. Certified translations are prepared to be filed and, where it comes to it, defended.
